Raised like many Nigerian children across Benue and Enugu, the influence of Samuel’s parents remains profound throughout his life. He learned from both events and people, becoming his mother’s sales and delivery assistant at an early age while also balancing school and relationships with peers.

Reflecting on his upbringing, Samuel writes: “Growing up with my cousins taught me the importance of having people you can always count on to stand up for you, to protect you. That my life wasn’t solely about me but those around me, and as an individual, I must know that I have limits but with people, those limits expand.”

Talent Is Universal, Access Isn’t is a detailed foray into Samuel’s life and experiences from Benue and Enugu to Colorado. Samuel outlines tenacity, resilience, and hope as core principles he cultivated in Nigeria before leaving for the United States, where he believed he had better chances at life. But disappointment struck in South Dakota when a layoff pushed Samuel to Colorado, where creativity and access to the right information became essential to overcoming financial hardship.

Having learned the power of community and meaningful relationships, Samuel ventured into business with the aim of enriching the lives of people around him by providing them with meaningful service. The young boy, once helping at his mother’s poultry farm and under his father’s careful watch, finally became a tech entrepreneur, community builder, and mentor after years of financial struggles that affected his choices, dreams, and education.

Samuel Ogah, Founder and CEO of Zi Cloud Tech and Founder and Executive Director of Colorado African Innovation and Cultural Center, holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Business Administration from Colorado Technical University and an associate degree in Computer Science from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. With more than 11 years of experience in technology leadership, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and AI, Samuel has trained hundreds of professionals, mentored over 200 aspiring technology leaders, and led community initiatives serving tens of thousands of individuals across Colorado.
